On 11 November 1918 Allied and German forces signed an Armistice that brought an end to the fighting on the Western Front and, effectively, the First World War. For the first time in four and a half years, the guns along the Western Front fell silent on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.
The Royal Australian Mint commemorates the centenary of the 1918 Armistice with this evocative and moving year set includes a specially designed $1 proof coin featuring stylised military motifs and poppies, along with the standard circulating coin designs.
